Polavaram Project
The Polavaram Irrigation Project is a Multipurpose one conferring Irrigation benefits in the upland areas of Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari and Krishna Districts. It also envisages drinking water supply to Visakhapatnam Township and other towns and villages enroute and Industrial water supply to the Visakhapatnam coast based Steel Plant and other industries in the vicinity, generation of Hydal Power, affording Navigation facilities, development of pisciculture and providing recreation and other benefits, besides urbanisation.
The Project also provides diversion of 2,27 T. M.Cum (80 TMC ft.) of Godavari Waters to Krishna Basin.
The Project is located in Andhra Pradesh near Polavaram village about 34 KMs. (21 Miles) upstream of Kovvur - Rajahmundry Road and 42 KM. (26 Miles) upstream of Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage, at Longitude 81°-39' 46" E and Latitude 17°-16' 53" N.
The Polavaram Project is essentially a diversion scheme and estimated for Rs. 2,665/-Crores (with 1985-86 rates). The revised estimated cost is Rs. 16010.45 Crores (with 2010-11 price level).

Kolleru Wild Life Sanctuary
Kolleru Lake is one of the largest freshwater lakes in India located in state of Andhra Pradesh and forms the largest shallow freshwater lake in Asia (with 245 km of lake area and 302 km of total Ramsar designated wetland). 15 kilometers away from the Eluru and 65 km from Rajamahendravaram, the lake is located between the Krishna and Godavari deltas. Kolleru Lake is located in Eluru district. The lake is fed directly by water from the seasonal Budameru and Tammileru streams, and is connected to the Krishna and Godavari irrigation systems by over 67 major and minor irrigation canals. This lake is a major tourist attraction. Many birds migrate here in winter, such as Siberian crane, ibis, and painted storks. The lake was an important habitat for an estimated 20 million resident and migratory birds, including the grey or spot-billed pelican (Pelecanus philippensis). The lake was declared as a wildlife sanctuary in November 1999 under India's Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, and designated a wetland of international importance in November 2002 under the international Ramsar Convention. An Young Energetic Politician who has been elected by the people of Andhra Pradesh as a Member of Parliament (M.P) for the district of Eluru in the general election of 2024.
He secured a landslide victory in the Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) elections, garnering an unprecedented majority of 1,81,857 votes. This achievement set a new record for the highest majority in the history of the Eluru parliament sector. Additionally, he made history as one of the youngest politicians to be elected as an MP candidate from the Telugu Desam Party in the general elections of 2024.
Driven by a strong sense of humanitarianism, he firmly advocates for the active participation of everyone in creating a better world for the less privileged. Leading by example, he has adopted his ancestral village in the Mydukur District of Andhra Pradesh. Through his philanthropic efforts, he has undertaken the construction of schools, provision of drinking water facilities, and improvement of infrastructure. Additionally, he has been actively involved in storm and flood relief activities, along with various other charitable initiatives through his own charitable Trust, named "Putta Vijayalakshmi Seva Society," aiming to foster a more equitable, humane, and sustainable society.
